I have a 2oz jar w/metal lid, containing a chocolate brown paste. All labeling is painted onto the glass. The face is printed as follows: Stock-Glaze, above the outline of a gunstock, 2 oz $1.00, and with a shield-shaped outline surrounding most of the label, except the first & last letters of the name, which extend outside this thin white outline. On the reverse, the following is printed: DIRECTIONS Dab Stock-Glaze on a soft clothing apply a small area. Rub hard until the compound dissolves. Wipe off the excess and buff with a soft clean cloth to a high finish. Can be used on raw wood . . . oil finished . . . or hard surfaced finished stocks. Waterproofs the stock. Several applications may be desirable. Will remove rusted retard metal from rusting.

I have not been able to find this product online, and only one other reference to J.C. Paul, other than this site. I am guessing that I may have purchased this item, and that it probably was during the late 1950s to early 1960s.
